śatānyahaṃ yojanānāṃ krameyaṃ subahūnyapi| kiṃ punaḥ sāgarasyāntaṃ saṃkhyātaṃ śatayojanam
(He said to himself), "I can cross a distance of even hundreds of yojanas. What to say of a hundred yojanas which is a calculated distance."
— M.N. Dutt (1891)
Ravana's city is described as a paradise — golden palaces, celestial gardens, and walls studded with gems. The verse deliberately echoes descriptions of celestial cities like Amaravati (Indra's capital). Lanka is a fallen paradise: beautiful in form but corrupted in purpose.
