स तु वीर्यवतां श्रेष्ठः प्लवतामपि चोत्तमः। जगाम वेगवान् लङ्कां लङ्घयित्वा महोदधिम्
sa tu vīryavatāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ plavatāmapi cottamaḥ| jagāma vegavān laṅkāṃ laṅghayitvā mahodadhim
Courageous and exalted Hanuman, the best among vanaras, noted for his speed reached Lanka crossing over the great ocean on his own.

Commentary
The contrast between Lanka's splendour and its demonic ruler is intentional. Hanuman does not deny the city's beauty — he observes it clearly. This is the discipline of a true hero: seeing things as they are, not as fear or hatred would paint them.
