samyagyoktā śreyasāṃ ca na vigṛhya kathāruciḥ uttarottarayuktau ca vaktā vācaspatiryathā|
He helps those who take refuge in him. He is not interested in conversation leading to dissentions. But during debates he is eloquent like Brihaspati (establing the truth on the basis of reasoning).

Rama helps those who take refuge in him and avoids conversation that creates division. The two qualities are connected: one who protects the vulnerable and avoids gossip is a ruler who builds unity rather than exploiting difference.
