Translation (English)

Thereafter, the lord of the earth (king Dasaratha) addressed the entire assembly of invitees. He spoke these pleasing words aimed at their welfare which thrilled and delighted the hearts (of the assembled kings):

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Dasharatha rises to address the assembly. His words are described as deep and resonant, like thunder. The voice of the king carries the weight of his dynasty and his decision. The assembly falls silent to hear the announcement that will change everything.
