Translation (English)

Longing for it, the noble king realized that the time was ripe for the acceleration of the process of safeguarding his own and his subjects' welfare.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

The king decides the time is ripe. The phrase 'acceleration of the process' suggests he has been waiting for this moment. The entire sarga has built toward this point: the description of Rama's virtues, the consultations, the recognition of old age, and now the decision to act.
