पीड्यमानस्तु बलिना महेन्द्रस्तेन पर्वतः। रीतीर्निर्वर्तयामास काञ्चनाञ्जनराजतीः

pīḍyamānastu balinā mahendrastena parvataḥ| rītīrnirvartayāmāsa kāñcanāñjanarājatīḥ

Translation (English)

Pressed by the powerful Hanuman, mount Mahendra let out streams of the hue of gold and silver (containing the ores of these minerals)৷৷

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

The mountain releases streams of gold and silver — its mineral wealth pouring out under Hanuman's pressure. This is more than poetry: in the Indian imagination, the earth's treasures respond to divine presence. The mountain gives its riches freely.
