ततो रावणनीतायाः सीतायाः शत्रुकर्शनः। इयेष पदमन्वेष्टुं चारणाचरिते पथि

tato rāvaṇanītāyāḥ sītāyāḥ śatrukarśanaḥ| iyeṣa padamanveṣṭuṃ cāraṇācarite pathi

Translation (English)

Hanuman, crusher of enemies resolved to find the whereabouts of Sita, carried away by Ravana. He followed the path of the Charanas, celestial bards.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Sundara Kanda opens with Hanuman standing on the shore of the southern ocean, preparing for his leap to Lanka. This verse captures the moment of decision — Hanuman resolves to find Sita, undaunted by the vast ocean before him.
