इक्ष्वाकुवंशप्रभवो रामो नाम जनैश्श्रुत: । नियतात्मा महावीर्यो द्युतिमान्धृतिमान् वशी
ikṣvākuvaṃśaprabhavo rāmo nāma janaiśśruta: | niyatātmā mahāvīryo dyutimāndhṛtimān vaśī
People have heard his name as Rama, who was born in the race of king Ikshvaku, having steady nature, possessing incomprehensible prowess, selfeffulgent, selfcommanding and subjecting senses under his control.

Commentary
Rama's physical and intellectual qualities are enumerated: broad-shouldered, strong-armed, eloquent, intelligent. The description follows the traditional order of an ideal king's qualities — from physical strength to intellectual power to moral character.
