अथाऽभिवाद्य राजानं रथमारुह्य राघवः।।2.3.48।। ययौ स्वं द्युतिमद्वेश्म जनौघैः प्रतिपूजितः।
athā'bhivādya rājānaṃ rathamāruhya rāghavaḥ yayau svaṃ dyutimadveśma janaughaiḥ pratipūjitaḥ|
Having paid his obeisance to the king, Rama ascended the chariot amidst the acclaim of multitudes of men and left for his splendid abode.

Commentary
Rama pays his obeisance to the king and departs in the chariot amid the acclaim of the multitude. The people cheer as he leaves — their love for him fills the streets. Ayodhya is a city in love with its prince.
