कौशल्या शुशुभे तेन पुत्रेणामिततेजसा। यथा वरेण देवानामदितिर्वज्रपाणिना

kauśalyā śuśubhe tena putreṇāmitatejasā| yathā vareṇa devānāmaditirvajrapāṇinā

Translation (English)

Kausalya looked splendid with her son, Rama of boundless energy, as did Aditi with the chief of the gods Indra, wielder of thunder.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Kausalya shines with the radiance of her son, just as Aditi shone with Indra. The mother-son bond is framed in cosmic terms — Kausalya's joy in Rama is not merely personal but participates in the joy of the universe at the arrival of its saviour.
