तत्रापि निवसन्तौ तौ तर्प्यमाणौ च कामतः। भ्रातरौ स्मरतां वीरौ वृद्धं दशरथं नृपम्

tatrāpi nivasantau tau tarpyamāṇau ca kāmataḥ| bhrātarau smaratāṃ vīrau vṛddhaṃ daśarathaṃ nṛpam

Translation (English)

Though both the heroic brothers stayed there satisfied on their own they constantly remembered their aged father.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Even in comfort, the brothers think constantly of their father and Rama. The verse gently establishes that Bharata's bond with Rama is not broken by distance. His love for Rama is real — which is what makes the coming conflict so agonising for him.
