तत्र न्यवसद्भ्रात्रा सह सत्कारसत्कृतः। मातुलेनाश्वपतिना पुत्रस्नेहेन लालितः

tatra nyavasadbhrātrā saha satkārasatkṛtaḥ| mātulenāśvapatinā putrasnehena lālitaḥ

Translation (English)

Treated with warm hospitality and fatherly affection by his maternal uncle Aswapati, Bharata stayed on there along with his brother.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Bharata and Shatrughna are treated with warmth and fatherly affection by their uncle. The verse emphasises that they are not in exile or hardship — they are honoured guests. When the news from Ayodhya reaches them, they will have to choose between comfort and duty.
