बरनउं रघुबर बिमल जसु जो दायकु फल चारि। अकल अनादि अनूपम भजु सर्वगुन आगार॥
baranauṃ raghubara bimala jasu jo dāyaku phala cāri| akala anādi anūpama bhaju sarvaguna āgāra||
I sing the spotless glory of the best of Raghus (Rama), which bestows the four fruits of life.
मैं रघुश्रेष्ठ श्रीराम के निर्मल यश का वर्णन करता हूँ, जो चारों फलों को देने वाला है।
Commentary
Tulsidas declares his subject: the spotless glory of Rama. The four fruits of life are bestowed by singing Rama's praise. The verse is both intent and invitation — if you seek life's highest goals, Rama's story is the path.
