Translation (English)

Intelligent Hanuman, the great warrior, observed there in the prosperous mansions, demons proud of their wealth, highly intoxicated and dull, their houses full of horsedrawn chariots with comfortable seats.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Sita's response — a mixture of joy, relief, and renewed sorrow. She weeps at the name of Rama. The verse captures the complexity of hope after long despair: the thing you most wished for is here, and you almost don't dare believe it.
