Commentary

Hanuman finds Sita in the Ashoka grove, surrounded by rakshasis, her beauty dimmed by sorrow. This is one of the most poignant moments in the epic тАФ the first sight of Sita after her long captivity. The verse contrasts her inner radiance with her external circumstances of captivity.
