अकर्दममिदं तीर्थं भरद्वाज निशामय । रमणीयं प्रसन्नाम्बु सन्मनुष्यमनो यथा
akardamamidaṃ tīrthaṃ bharadvāja niśāmaya | ramaṇīyaṃ prasannāmbu sanmanuṣyamano yathā
"O Bharadwaja, behold the beautiful and pleasant waters of this river. This holy spot is as clear and pure as the mind of a virtuous man.

Commentary
Valmiki points to the clear, pure waters of the Tamasa. External purity mirrors internal purity. The verse establishes a theme that runs through the Ramayana: the state of the world reflects the state of the mind.
