On seeing Vasistha the king descended from the throne and enquired whether he had performed the mission to which the ascetic replied affirmatively.
— M.N. Dutt (1891)
Dasharatha descends from his throne when he sees Vasistha and enquires if the mission was accomplished. The king's rising from the throne is a gesture of respect — even the king stands for his guru. The question is asked with the eagerness of a father awaiting news of his son.
