श्रुत्वैव वचनं यन्मे राघवं पतिमिच्छथ। राजान स्संशयोऽयं मे किमिदं ब्रूत तत्त्वतः
śrutvaiva vacanaṃ yanme rāghavaṃ patimicchatha| rājāna ssaṃśayo'yaṃ me kimidaṃ brūta tattvataḥ
O kings, soon after listening to my words, all of you wish Rama to be king. (But) I doubt (in my mind) whether you have said it from your heart৷৷

Commentary
Dasharatha expresses doubt: if the earth is already being ruled righteously by him, why do they need Rama as prince regent? The rhetorical question is a final formality, inviting the assembly to state explicitly why the transfer of power is necessary even when the current rule is good.
