Translation (English)

The king who received them in a befitting manner and provided them with residence and ornaments looked like lord Brahma adorned by the people.

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

The arriving kings are received with honour and provided with residence and ornaments. The hospitality of Ayodhya reflects the generosity of its king. Even as tragedy approaches, the city is at its most magnificent — the contrast heightens the fall.
