Translation (English)

The thought of seeing his dear son coronated repeatedly surfaced his mind so great was his affection (for Rama).

M.N. Dutt (1891)

Commentary

Dasharatha's mind keeps returning to the thought of Rama's coronation. The repetition mirrors his excitement — he cannot stop thinking about it. The verse captures the joy of a father who believes he is about to see his son's greatest moment. The dramatic irony is already at work.
